Re: Right to Strike in Ontario

We write on behalf of Unifor’s 163,000 members in Ontario, in full support of CUPE education workers in your bargaining demands and in your right to strike.

Workers must have a say in our own working conditions, and Unifor unequivocally condemns today’s unprecedented attempt by the provincial government to curtail that right for members of CUPE.

TORONTO- Unifor unequivocally condemns Minister Lecce’s imposed contract and preemptive back-to-work legislation, standing in full support of CUPE education workers.

TORONTO- Unifor calls on members across Ontario to show solidarity with educational workers on the brink of bold strike action.

Three women working at the University of Windsor – all Unifor members – will receive back pay in the range of $25,000 to $35,000 each from their employer, after the union filed a complaint with the province’s Pay Equity Review Services.

OSHAWA––Unifor members at GDI Services have won significant wage and benefit gains in a new collective agreement, bringing a 17-day labour dispute at Durham College campuses to an end.
 

Unifor Local 5555 has ratified its latest collective agreement with McMaster University in Hamilton, Ont., winning significant gains in wage increases and racial justice bargaining language.

“Congratulations to the bargaining committee on ratifying its latest agreement,” said Deb Tveit, Assistant to Unifor’s National President. “The members ratified the best monetary package they’ve had in over 10 years. The last time they saw a 3% increase was in 2006.”
