The Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), observed on November 20, is a solemn occasion to remember and honour those who have tragically lost their lives due to ignorance and hatred, targeted solely because of their transgender or gender non-conforming identity.
The National Rainbow Week of Action, May 11—17, drew together thousands of union leaders, workers, community activists, and supporters who issued a national call for unity and equality in Canada.
The week featured a prominent social media campaign, rallies in communities across the country, and letter writing drives to demand that politicians take action against rising anti-2SLGBTQIA+ hate.
Unifor is proud to support the Rainbow Week of Action organized by Momentum, a Canadian non-profit that organizes and amplifies advocacy for social and gender justice.
The week of action, that takes place from May 11 – May 17, 2024, will host and promote rallies, letter-writing campaigns, webinars, phone banks, and more in communities across the country.
Solidarity among workers forms the backbone of progress. Standing united against transphobia and hate is not just our responsibility as a union, but a fundamental act of protecting the dignity and rights of every individual in Canada.
