On March 23, Unifor Local 4304 demonstrated their unwavering commitment to diversity and equity by hosting their second-annual drag show, a celebration that transcended mere entertainment to make a meaningful impact.
“In celebrating events like the drag show, we not only celebrate diversity but also reaffirm our commitment to creating a world where everyone feels seen, heard and valued,” said Brendan Burke, President of Unifor Local 4304.
“It's through collective action and unwavering support that we pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future.”
The event raised $11,700 to donate to SPECTRUM, an organization based in Waterloo dedicated to offering vital peer support groups for trans individuals and their loved ones, Unifor Local 4304 showcased their dedication to uplifting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.”
SPECTRUM provides needed services in the 2SLGBTQIA community for all ages, from kids to seniors.
At its core, the drag show wasn't just about entertainment; it was a celebration of identity, acceptance, and love. It provided a platform for marginalized voices to be heard, for allies to stand in solidarity, and for progress to be made. Through performances that dazzled and speeches that inspired, attendees were reminded of the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels welcomed and valued.
