Departments

Unifor’s Women's Department aims to develop the capacity of women activists through union education, activism and mobilization. Engaging Unifor sisters on equality issues and other union priorities strengthens the connection of women to the union, which means building a stronger movement as we fight for all our members' rights.

The International Department fosters ongoing relationships with like-minded unions and social justice seeking groups, around the world. This department connects Unifor’s work to international labour bodies, known as Global Union Federations. Additionally, the International Department maintains links within progressive groups here in Canada, seeking to bring about justice for workers, their families and communities throughout the globe.

Through unions, workers have the legal right to bargain collectively with their employer, which can help establish a climate of a greater respect, dignity and make material gains to improve their standard of living. The Unifor organizing department helps workers organize their workplaces, to win bargaining rights and realize the benefits of union membership.

Unifor's Skilled Trades department provides assistance and support to members, bargaining committees, national representatives on skilled trades issues. This includes negotiating skilled trades language into collective agreements, apprenticeship language and assisting in securing apprenticeships. The department also provides support in administering the general skilled trades policy of our union.

Unifor's Communications Department is responsible for national union publications and audio visual production within the union as well as media relations.
