Naureen became involved with the labour movement in 1999 when she was elected President of Local 6004 (Bell Canada, Ottawa). In 2004, she was elected as staff in a telecommunications union that merged with the Communications Energy and Paperworkers union - CEP (one of the two former unions that founded Unifor). Upon Unifor's founding she continued to work and advocate for union members as a National Staff Representative.
Naureen has held positions as the Toronto Area Director and as the Director of Telecommunications before being elected as the Ontario Regional Director. In 2015, she was one of 230 selected for the Governor General's leadership conference. Naureen is also a Vice-President of the Ontario Federation of Labour.
