On December 6, 2014, Unifor recognizes the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. We remember all women who have died as a result of gender-based violence. OTTAWA, Nov. 20, 2014 /CNW/ - RA workers will be leafleting outside of the centre's annual general meeting as of 6:30 tonight. RA workers will be asking centre members to pose key questions around labour relations during the course of the meeting.
The picket starts as 6:30 p.m. and the annual general meeting begins at 7:30 p.m.
November 20 is the Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day born out of the need to recognize, mourn and take action on violence against trans people. Unifor stands alongside our trans members and their families as they seek to live with the dignity, safety and freedom that we all need and deserve.
Violence against women isn’t a series of isolated incidents, it’s a systemic issue that is rooted in sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia and other forms of discrimination and oppression. It’s all connected, and we can’t end violence against women without turning our attention to these issues.

Unifor Local 4270 represents the 55 unionized staff members at the RA Centre, who have been without a collective agreement since May.
Members have voted 85 per cent in favour of a strike, if necessary.
