New equity positions big wins in Masco Canada contract

Unifor Local 27 members have ratified a new three-year agreement with their manufacturing employer, Masco Canada in St. Thomas, Ont. on March 5.

 “Congratulations to the bargaining committee for their dedicated hard work negotiating a fair contract for our manufacturing members,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne. “Every step towards making a workplace more inclusive is a move in the right direction.”

 The biggest gains of the contract include a wage increase of 13.5% over three years, a full-time chairperson and newly created positions for Women’s AdvocateRacial Justice Advocate, and 2SLGBTQ+ Advocate.

 The 398 members of this unit are electricians, millwrights, tool and die makers, assemblers, machine operators, glassing technicians and inspector technicians, among others.

Masco Canada manufactures numerous home plumbing brands including Delta, Mirolin, BrassCraft, Brizo, Hansgrohe and more.

“This agreement brings our members to fair market wages,” said Unifor Local 27 President Brian Chapman. “The new full-time chairperson will ensure members are better represented. The new diversity advocates are a good start towards strengthening equity in the workplace.”

 The contract expires March 5, 2027.
