Dear members,
We did it!
The results of the vote are in – Members at DHL Express Canada have ratified a new four-year agreement by 72%, ending the lockout and strike.
It’s been a tough few weeks and we are so proud of our locals and membership for sticking it out, day-after-day on picket lines across the country, never backing down.
The new contract features a 15.75% increase in wages throughout the life of the contract, a new payment structure for owner-operators, pension increases for hourly workers and a new pension for owner-operators.
In addition, there are increases to short and long-term disability payments, a new mental health benefit, increases to severance, wage adjustments and much-desired language around AI, robotics and automatic, and improved work-from-home language.
This dispute underscored the importance of federal anti-scab legislation, hard fought for by Unifor, that came into effect during this dispute.
It marked a historic moment for our union as we became the first test case under the new law, standing firm to ensure companies were not above it. Our union and members stood tall and held strong, and the end result was a fair collective agreement that addresses the needs of DHL workers across all job classifications.
Congratulations!
In solidarity,
National DHL Bargaining Committee
