TP workers and their allies, including Unifor’s Telecommunications Council executive, joined a global solidarity action by wearing pink in a sign of unity on October 15, 2026.

This visual message supports the UNI Global Union’s position in renewing its global agreement with the company. Unifor is an affiliate of UNI Global Union.

“The work of UNI Global Union shows the power of international solidarity, and there are few better examples than the Global Agreements which UNI negotiates on behalf of its members,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne.

UNI Global Union and TP (formerly known as Teleperformance) signed a landmark global agreement that committed to standards of occupational health and safety and included provisions to help workers around the world organize to join a union without harassment or reprisal.

“This French company operates in 100 countries, and the message of the Global Agreement is simple: all workers deserve the same basic level of protection, including the right to join a union,” continued Payne.

The agreement expired in May 2026, and the parties first reached a stalemate before the company refused to continue negotiations.

“This first agreement has not only helped workers around the world, but it also helped TP ensure safety and better labour standards in its vast network of telecom outsourcing. Abandoning that progress leaves the company, and workers, exposed,” said Daniel Cloutier, Unifor Quebec Director.

Negotiations remain stalled as TP, which has opened up labour relations in countries around the world such as Kenya and Colombia, refused to offer the same respect and protections to workers in the United States.

Since 2025, Unifor has been working with UNI Global Union toimplement this Global Agreement in Canada so that TP workers can see those same benefits and consider forming a union. However, the company continues to out up roadblocks and has stalled discussions.

“We’re joining the UNI Global Action because telecom workers in Canada, and around the world all deserve respect. TP has the opportunity to lead on the biggest issues facing the industry, or to retreat, and we’re supporting UNI Global’s invitation for the company to step up,” said Jeff Brohman, Unifor Telecommunications Council Chairperson.

Earlier this year, the global union federation urged TP’s shareholders to call on management to renew the agreement.

“In a time of transition, with the company pivoting to AI under a new management team, abandoning this agreement sends the wrong signal to stakeholders. Without union partnerships, locally and globally, TP simply doesn’t have the structures to manage workforce risks concentrated in countries with a high possibility of labour abuses. That is why this agreement is so important,” said UNI Global Union General Secretary Christy Hoffman.
