Unifor Local 195 and Local 1285 members at the Team Industrial Paint Unit in both Windsor and Brampton Assembly plants have ratified on October 27, and October 29th 2022 respectively new three-year collective agreements with a 94% approval by the membership.

“Unifor bargaining committees across many sectors of the economy are pushing hard for good deals and achieving them,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne. “We are very proud of the work the bargaining committees did to provide and coordinate the best possible outcome for this master bargaining agreement. They worked hard to deliver some unprecedented achievements to their Paint division members in the Stellantis facilities.”

Both units are responsible for preforming deep cleaning for the paint division booths, while maintaining a safe and environmentally friendly workplace. For years, these members have ensured that both Windsor & Brampton Assembly plants maintain the highest quality, in order for Stellantis to deliver customers the best-painted products in the industry.

The new contracts secure impressive monetary gains, make breakthroughs in new added language, and provide for improvements that support work life balance as follows:

  • Ratification Bonus of $3,000 for full-time employees and $1,500 for part-time employees.
  • Full-time employees will receive wage increases or lump sum payments in each year of the agreement that will take them to $35.82 /hour and a Cola increase in 2025.
  • Part-time employees will receive wages increases in each contract year, which will potentially see their wages increase from the current $20.42 per hour to a maximum of $26.50 per hour. However, employees hired after 2013 will be paid 85% of the full-time wage and when hired as full-time will move to full rate.
  • Added to the Collective Agreement will be a new Cola Inflation protection payment each year of the collective agreement for all full-time and part-time employees.
  • A pension improvement will add $1.00 per hour to the current company pension contribution. Current maximum wage rate employees will see the pension contribution converted to 9% of their base rate at the end of year three of the agreement.
  • Added to the agreement is the inclusion of post-retirement benefits, the company will now cover the retiree ODB deductible of $100.
  • Improvement on the restructuring /incentives/ severance scale.
  • Dependent scholarships will increase to $1,500 for employees dependents enrolled in university and/or colleges.

Both locals worked very well in collaboration throughout bargaining, making sure to look after the needs of the membership.

Congratulations to the Local 195 and Local 1285 bargaining committee members.
