Ontario Northland Bargaining Update
Dear Members,
As we approach the strike deadline on March 12, at 12:01 a.m., we want to update you on our efforts to secure a fair deal.
Bargaining began last summer, focusing on improving benefits and wages, with the company showing willingness to enhance the package, pending approval from the Ontario Treasury Board. However, to date, we have yet to secure an agreement that truly reflects the value our members bring to Ontario Northland.
Significant dates in our journey include:
- January 11, 2024: Engagement with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, marking a pivotal step in our negotiations.
- February 21-29, 2024: Intensive negotiations, striving for progress despite challenging circumstances.
- March 6, 2024: A striking 96.3% of you voted YES in our strike mandate vote, showcasing our unity and resolve.
- March 8-11, 2024: Scheduled meetings with the employer, leading up to the strike deadline, demonstrating our commitment to find a fair resolution.
As we approach the critical strike deadline, we are scheduled to meet with the employer, fully committed to reaching an equitable agreement. Our bargaining team is prepared to engage in meaningful discussions, with the aim of securing a deal that recognizes the contributions and needs of our members.
