The 55 members of Unifor Local 197, working at Jubilant Draximage in Montreal, accepted the tentative agreement recommended by the negotiating committee at a meeting held last week.

"The negotiation process was long, but the outcome is more than positive,” said Hugues Perreault, Unifor Quebec National Representative. “I would like to acknowledge the exemplary work of the union committee and the rigor they demonstrated throughout this round of negotiations.”

These members work in a nuclear medicine laboratory and manufacture radiopharmaceuticals used in the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases.

The new three-year agreement, ratified on March 2, includes several improvements, including a 6.5% wage increase, retroactive to April 1, 2022, a 3.5% increase for 2023 and 3% for the year 2024.

Members also received in this new contract, substantial increase in receiver/shipper salaries, significant reduction in the time between salary steps, the addition of a seniority bonus of 1.5% of annual salary payable to all employees who have reached 15 years of service as of April 1, 2024.

Among other gains include the addition of an additional floating vacation in the third year of the agreement, an increase in the bonus payable when the employee works in the aseptic room and the introduction of a provision prohibiting the employer from changing an employee's schedule without consent.
