TORONTO—Unifor energy members have ratified a new four-year pattern agreement with Suncor. The deal sets the standard for about 7,200 workers in the union's National Energy Program.

"Energy workers power this country, and they have shown again what happens when they stand together," said Lana Payne, Unifor National President. "I thank the bargaining committee for the work they did to win this agreement for members across the sector."

Representatives from Unifor's energy local unions voted to approve the agreement, which was reached with Suncor. Each local will now bargain its own local issues to complete the process.

"Pattern bargaining works because members across the country have each other's backs," said Daniel Cloutier, Unifor Quebec Director. "That solidarity is what gets big energy companies to take workers seriously at the table."

Local unions at the following sites will now ratify their agreements based on the pattern:

  • Suncor Energy Products Partnership
  • Burrard Products Terminal (Local 601)
  • Edmonton Refinery (Local 501A)
  • Montreal Refinery (Local 175)
  • Montreal Terminal (Local 163Q)
  • Suncor Energy Inc.
  • Oil Sands (Local 707A)
  • Terra Nova Employers' Organization
  • Terra Nova Floating Production Storage and Offloading Platform (Local 2121)

Unifor is Canada's largest union in the private sector, representing 315,000 workers in every major area of the economy. The union fights for all working people, for equality and social justice at home and abroad, and for a better future.
