Unifor is proud to welcome 31 new aviation members from Porter Airlines at Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport.

“It sends a powerful message when workers who are critical to keeping flights safe and on schedule come together to form a union,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne.

“These network operations coordinators are the backbone of Porter’s daily operations, and they deserve fairness, stability and a real voice at work. We’re proud to stand with them as they negotiate a strong first collective agreement.”

The newly certified bargaining unit represents network operations coordinators—the frontline professionals who serve as the central hub for daily airline logistics, helping ensure safe, efficient and on-time flight operations.

The group joined Unifor after raising concerns about scheduling, fairness and job security in their workplace. Unifor launched its organizing campaign in January, with certification finalized on Feb. 26.

“During an exciting period of growth for Porter Airlines, this certification reflects the collaboration and dedication of Network Operations Coordinators. It demonstrates the impact of our teamwork and the important role we play in supporting the company’s operations every day,” said new member Andrew De Souza.

“I am truly grateful to everyone who supported and contributed throughout this process. Their dedication and collective effort have helped build a strong foundation for fairness and a positive path forward for everyone in the bargaining unit.”
