Unifor Local 100 commenced collective bargaining with Hudson Bay Railway (HBR) on October 17, 2025, and continued discussions with the employer during the week of December 8, 2025, focusing on non-monetary proposals.
Unifor represents approximately 20 members at HBR in The Pas, Manitoba, who provide mechanical services for both freight cars and locomotives.
“We are optimistic about the future growth of Hudson Bay Railway and the vital role it will play in expanding the Canadian North and moving goods to northern ports and into new, diverse markets. In this round of negotiations, our goal is to secure fair improvements to wages, benefits, and working conditions, recognizing the hard work and dedication of our members who have been instrumental to HBR’s success,” said Cory Will, President of Unifor Local 100.
The parties are scheduled to meet again to continue negotiations during January 6–9, 2026. Further updates will be provided as bargaining continues.
The Union is committed to defending the rights and interests of our members. We believe that through solidarity, persistence, and a clear vision, we can achieve an agreement that truly recognizes our worth and contributions.
Stay tuned for further updates, and do not hesitate to reach out to your Union representatives should you have any questions or need support.
