Wage increases, more sick days, and improved job security are highlights of a new three-year, four-month contract ratified by Unifor members with global logistics company Kuehne + Nagel.

“Unifor is the union for warehouse workers,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne. “My sincere congratulations to Local 1285 for negotiating a strong agreement in a challenging sector.”

In addition to fighting off concessions, the unit was able to increase wages through market adjustments and general wage increases ranging from 9 per cent to 13 per cent over the term of agreement. The contract includes new classifications that come with an  improved wage grid, an additional sick day, improved vacation provisions, stronger job security, and an improved job posting and grievance procedure.

Local 1285 represents nearly 130 members working in general labour, warehouse support, inventory control, quality control, shipping, receiving, and cleaning at Kuehne + Nagel.

The new contract will expire March 31, 2029.
