MCCLEAN LAKE, SK—Wage increases, a Skilled Trades adjustment, and benefits improvements are highlights of a new collective agreement ratified August 13, 2025 by members of Unifor Local 48-S at the Orano uranium mine.

“Unifor members make the Orano mine safe and productive. The collective agreement reflects their value to the Canadian mining and energy sectors,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne.

The three-year contract increases wages 13.5%, plus shift-based premiums and additional hourly adjustments for workers in the Skilled Trades. The agreement also contains increases to the employer’s contribution to retirement savings plans and improves vision care and the boot allowance.

“The bargaining committee worked very hard for their members during this round of negotiations,” said Unifor Western Regional Director Gavin McGarrigle. “Congratulations to Local 48-S for achieving a solid contract.”

Unifor is Canada’s largest union in the private sector, representing 320,000 workers in every major area of the economy. The union advocates for all working people and their rights, fights for equality and social justice in Canada and abroad, and strives to create progressive change for a better future.
