More than 3,500 Unifor members and their families turned out to Canada’s Wonderland on Sunday, July 13, for a day of rides, face painting, lunch, and union pride at the annual Unifor Member Appreciation Day.
The day kicked off under grey skies and a steady downpour, but spirits remained high as members waited out the rain.
By late morning, the clouds parted, and sunshine took over, turning it into a perfect day for roller coasters, water rides, and family fun.
“This is what solidarity and movement building looks like,” said Unifor National Secretary-Treasurer Len Poirier. “It’s a powerful feeling to see so many members and their families come together like this, rain or shine, to celebrate the strength of our union and enjoy a day with our families and friends. This day is about recognizing our amazing members and the incredible things they do for their families and our communities.”
Unifor’s Wonderland tradition continues to grow year after year, drawing members from across Ontario.
With subsidized tickets courtesy of Unifor National and Ontario Regional Council, the event has become a highlight of the summer and features face-painting, a Unifor lunch in the park’s courtyard, and a full day of access to rides, shows, and the water park.
“These are the moments that build community and remind us why we fight so hard every day at the bargaining table and in the streets,” said Unifor Ontario Regional Director Samia Hashi. “The connections we build extend far beyond our workplaces. They’re what make our union strong, united, and ready to take on any challenge, together.”
