Unifor members at Blue Water Rest Home in Zurich, Ontario have ratified a new two-year collective agreement.
“This agreement is a testament to the strength and determination of our long-term care members,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne. “They do critical work in challenging conditions and they deserve contracts that reflect that value.”
The agreement includes wage increases and maintains key protections for the 45 members working as personal support workers, registered practical nurses, kitchen, laundry, cooking and maintenance staff at the small rural long-term care facility.
“This group works incredibly hard and they deserve every dollar of this increase,” said Jennifer Kennedy, First Vice President of Local 2458. “I want to applaud the bargaining committee for working hard and delivering on the high expectations of our membership.”
The contract is backdated to November 1, 2024 and runs until October 31, 2026.
