Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) from Unifor Locals across Ontario gathered in Kitchener on October 24 for the 66 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of WeRPN.
“The AGM provides an opportunity for Unifor RPNs to come together, share their experiences, and strengthen the RPN profession,” said Unifor Ontario Regional Director, Samia Hashi. “Unifor’s campaign work and representation, alongside WeRPN’s professional advocacy, go hand in hand in supporting RPNs across Ontario, ensuring their work is valued and their needs are addressed.”
The AGM featured learning sessions and opportunities to ask questions and discussions on key issues impacting RPNs in Ontario. One of the central topics was the importance of PLP insurance, which offers essential coverage against malpractice claims for alleged incidents. Unifor representatives emphasized the importance of this protection and encouraged all RPNs to become members of WeRPN.
“WeRPN membership is about more than just liability insurance,” said Unifor Local 2458 Member and RPN Heather Escobar. “It’s about belonging to a community that amplifies our voices and advocates for all RPNs across Ontario.”
As the professional association for RPNs in Ontario, WeRPN focuses on professional practice, advocacy and providing essential services like Professional Liability Protection (PLP) insurance.
