Nationally, President Obama’s Advanced Manufacturing Partnership (AMP), launched in 2011, brings together industry, academia and government to invest in emerging technologies, including information technology, biotechnology and nanotechnology, all with a view to renewing America’s manufacturing capabilities.
Washington invested more than $500 million to jumpstart the program. At a sub-national level, ‘Manufacturing Renaissance’ is an independent nonprofit organization that is championing advanced manufacturing as a foundation for sustainable, middle-class communities. This group is comprised of business, labour, government, education, and community leaders and it develops practical programs, executed through public-private partnerships, to renew America’s manufacturing base in the light of broader goals, namely economic stability, social well-being and environmental stewardship.
