TORONTO, Sept. 2, 2014 /CNW/ - After nine weeks on strike, members of Unifor Local 252 at Emerald Energy from Waste in Brampton, Ont., have ratified a new collective agreement that not only maintains their pension and wages, but secures the future of the facility.
TORONTO, Sept. 2, 2014 /CNW/ - As another school year begins, Unifor has today written to the Premier of Ontario and the Minister of Education, alerting them to serious problems with how school bus contracts are awarded across the province, and is releasing a new report on the issue.
Unifor released its report, Steering Clear: Avoiding the RFP Trap, looking at the Request for Proposals process and its impact on working conditions, abandoned bus routes and transperency in school boards. A copy of the report was sent to Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and Education Minister Liz Sandals, urging them to take immediate action.
