Members of SATAP (Syndicat Acadien des Travailleurs Affiliés et des Pêches) employed at Produits Belle Baie Ltée voted unanimously on Friday to merge with Unifor.
“Unifor represents many workers in the fish processing industry in this area and we’re very pleased to welcome these women and men to the Unifor family,” said John Aman, Director of Organizing at Unifor. “This is a challenging work environment and these folks are very enthusiastic about our union’s familiarity with their situation and our capacity to support improvements in their working lives.”
The number of workers varies throughout the year due to the seasonal nature of their employment, but on average the workforce consists of 100 people.
