This vote was taken following offers deemed "insufficient" by the union. Negotiation committees from all provinces held meetings with members and gathered a strong strike vote from DHL Express members across the country.

We represent roughly 2,500 unionized employees of DHL Express nationwide. Unifor began negotiations with DHL Express Canada over six months ago, but to date, the union is still awaiting a concrete response to more than half of its demands, particularly regarding wage conditions.

Negotiations aim to resolve the payment methods for deliveries by owner-operators and increase wages following a significant wave of inflation across Canada. During these meetings, members were consistent and united in their demands for:

  • Guaranteed work (no subcontracting)

  • Fair and equitable pay across Canada

  • Safe and respectful working conditions

The result for the strike demonstrate solidarity among our members, and we are confident that it will send a clear message to the company!

All workers at DHL Express Canada are ready to make themselves heard to improve their working conditions and wages. They will mobilize to ensure their employer sets an example by providing good conditions.

DHL Express is also in a position, under the rules of the Canadian Labour Code, to respond to the union by imposing a lock-out of its employees as of June 8.

The next round of national negotiations with company representatives is therefore scheduled to take place from June 1 to June 8, 2025, in Toronto, with the precise aim of maximizing the chances of reaching a fair agreement through good faith discussions.
