Moments before intimate partner violence was declared an epidemic in Nova Scotia, Unifor Atlantic Regional Director Jennifer Murray and ARC Women's Committee Chair Koren Baeman had a chance encounter with Premier Houston, compelling him to change his mind and pass this important legislation.

"It's a huge moment when government realizes their power and uses it for something so incredibly good," says Unifor Atlantic Regional Director Jennifer Murray. "It's going to change lives for people in Nova Scotia, there's no doubt. And I hope that other Premiers in other provinces understand what has happened here and step up and table these bills themselves."
