KITCHENER-WATERLOO—Unifor is asking for the public’s patience during the delays in transit service resulting from the picket lines and legal strike action of CUPE Local 1656.

Frontline transit workers in the Grand River Transit system sympathize with the frustration of transit riders during this time, but Unifor is not a party to the negotiations between CUPE and the Region of Waterloo.

"Unifor Local 4304 members are proud to serve the community of Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge" said local president Heath Abbott. "We ask that our ridership be compassionate for the transit workers who are also inconvenienced while CUPE members fight for a fair collective agreement from the Region of Waterloo.
