Skills Development Fund

Centennial College, in partnership with Unifor and the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development, is offering a provincially-funded program of skills-based training to the unemployed and underemployed within the advanced manufacturing sector at no cost to you.* The program requires ten hours per week commitment, in the evenings and weekends (Saturday). Courses involve hybrid online and/or in-person lectures and lab training.

*A deposit of $250 is required and will be refunded upon completion of the program.

Admission Requirements:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or General Education Development (GED), or equivalent; OR Mature Student Status (19 years or older)
  • Manufacturing/plant experience is considered an asset (credit for Level 1)
  • Must be unemployed or underemployed

Start your career and choose from the following focus areas of training:

Stream A: Manufacturing and Production

This stream will provide you with training on state-of-the-art CNC programing, machining and commercial 3D printing operations. For more details visit this detailed course description.

Stream B: Automation and Industry 4.0

After completing this stream, you will have a complete understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, basic electrical, and the electronic components required to operate a production line.

Stream C: Quality and Process Control

Through this stream, you will gain a solid understanding of Quality Control and Quality Assurance fundamentals. You will learn how to use a variety of measuring tools including CMM operations (metrology) and conduct quality checks on manufactured products.
