Unifor member Paul Totten died on the job on Monday, June 13, 2022 in Tillsonburg, Ontario where he worked as a technician for Bell Technical Solutions (BTS).

“Thoughts and deepest sympathies to Brother Totten’s loved ones and family including his union family. Our entire Unifor family grieves with you,” said Lana Payne, Unifor National Secretary-Treasurer.

Paul Totten was an experienced technician with 25 years of experience at BTS. The loss of Brother Paul is being felt intensely by his fellow Unifor Local 45 members, and by members across the region and telecommunications sector.

Local 45 President Randy Puscher described Brother Paul as a thoughtful, helpful, solid union supporter that everyone could count on who will be deeply missed by his coworkers.

“No one should go to work at the start of a shift and not come home. We mourn for Brother Paul as we investigate this workplace fatality and push for improved health and safety in the workplace and in the telecommunications sector,” said Naureen Rizvi, Unifor Ontario Regional Director.

The Local and the national union, including the Health and Safety Department, are participating in the workplace investigation, which is still in preliminary stages.
