Former B.C. Premier John Horgan will be remembered by Unifor members across the country as a champion for working people. His legacy is a British Columbia that has some of the healthiest public services and strongest workers’ rights in Canada.
First as an MLA and then during his tenure as premier, he was accessible to Unifor representatives and was very engaged in the issues that mattered. His relationship with working people helped inform the NDP government’s pro-labour reforms and ensured that British Columbians had improved access to a union and that the province’s most vulnerable workers enjoyed better protections at work.
Unifor mourns this significant loss, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the honour of working with him. John’s dedication to justice, equity, and workers’ rights will not be forgotten.
