WINNIPEG—Unifor Local 4209 members at Clarke transport have ratified a new collective agreement that contains strong economic gains for the 12 employees.

“We are happy to have completed negotiations quickly with wage increases and improvements to scheduling,” said Don Lajoie, president of Local 4209.

A three-year contract is effective June 1. It includes a 2% wage increase in each year and a one dollar per hour increase for part-time employees. The previous deal expired on May 31.

Unifor was founded Labour Day weekend 2013 when the Canadian Auto Workers and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers unions merged. With more than 305,000 members, Unifor is Canada’s largest union in the private sector.
