SAINT JOHN—Wage increases are among the various gains made in a new collective agreement for Unifor Local 2002 members at the Hilton hotel in Saint John.

“Unifor is a union for hospitality workers,” said Jerry Dias, Unifor National President. “Right across Canada, hotel workers are making gains with Unifor.”

On August 14 members voted overwhelmingly for a new four-year agreement that includes wage increases in each year, eight additional sick day hours per year, an increase to minimum shift length, better severance pay, an increase to the safety footwear allowance, improved dental benefits, and eligibility for part-time members to participate in the matched RRSP plan.

“Unifor members at the Hilton work hard and they have earned a fair contract,” said Euila Leonard, Unifor Local 2002 President. “The bargaining committee should be proud of what they accomplished with the strong support of the membership.”

Local 2002 represents 150 workers at the Hilton Saint John Trade and Convention Center responsible for hotel operations including engineering, front desk reception, housekeeping, kitchen, and banquets.
