Unifor members of Local 414 have reached a tentative agreement with Metro (Barn Markets collective agreement). The new agreement covers more than 200 workers at two stores in Ontario.
“Unifor continues to make significant gains for workers in retail who face extraordinary challenges,” said Jerry Dias, Unifor National President. “Congratulations to the bargaining committee who have worked relentlessly to reach a fair deal.”
Despite being the fastest-growing sector in Canada, retail workers get paid the lowest wages, have inconsistent schedules and experience exceptionally high-turnover. Unifor continues to be a leading voice in advocating for a living wage, improved classifications with higher wages, and paid time off increases.
“The bargaining committee was guided by a clear vision for making the lives of retail workers better,” said Chris MacDonald, Assistant to the President. “Details of the agreement will be made available once ratified by members.”

Unifor is one of the country's largest retail worker unions, with more than 20,000 members working in supermarkets, pharmacies, appliance stores, and other retail shops across Canada.
