Unifor is celebrating the first Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) Week, organized by the Health Association of Nova Scotia (HANS) as part of Continuing Care Month.

"CCAs offer the highest quality of care that allows people in their homes and in long-term care to live comfortably and with dignity,” said Jerry Dias, Unifor National President. "Their contribution as part of the health care team is incredible and deserves the special recognition this week and every single day of the year."

HANS aims to raise awareness of the vital role of CCAs in the health care team, in home care and long-term care across the province.

"CCAs consistently go above and beyond to provide excellent care, compassion and companionship to patients and residents," said Linda MacNeil, Unifor Atlantic Regional Director. "As a healthcare worker, I know first-hand how hard CCAs work. The enormous mental, physical and emotional contributions they make in caring for patients and residents, is second-to-none."
