The Temporary Foreign Workers Program has been a hot topic of conversation within Canada, which has recently resulted in the federal government implementing changes to the program in order to provide Canadians the first chance at available jobs.
The TFW Program was implemented to help fill specific labour needs in various industries across Canada; however, many have decried the program for increasing the unemployment rate in specific regions, undercutting Canada’s normal immigration system and exploiting vulnerable (mostly racialized) workers.
