Workers at Sollio Agriculture, a feed mill in New Minas, N.S., have ratified a new four-year collective agreement on Oct. 20, 2024, in a unanimous vote.

“Congratulations to the bargaining committee for negotiating a fair agreement for the members,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne. “A lot of work went into this agreement, and it shows.”

The new contract has a 15% wage increase over the life of the contract, increases to meal allowances, night shift premium, back shift premium and lead hand premium.  There was also a boost in boot allowance, millhand base rate, and driver/salesman base rate.

The new agreement also has a new February holiday, bringing the total stat holidays to 12.

The 23 members at Unifor Local 2216, Unit 4 work as millhands, maintenance workers and drivers and salespeople.

The contract will expire on Sept. 16, 2028.

“This is a great agreement,” said Local 2216 President Suzzane Tobin. “Thanks to the bargaining committee, this was a smooth round of negotiations.”
