Unifor Local 1701 members have increased paid days off and improved wages in a new contract with Sodexo Canada.

“The bargaining committee did an excellent job negotiating the entire agreement! I would like to thank both Robin  Dudley and Marguretia Joseph for their invaluable roles in this process, as well as Carol Claus and Nelson Brito for the preparation efforts.  The gains in this CBA are great!  We should all be very pleased with this result.” said Mike Hill, President of Unifor Local 1701.

The three-year collective agreement covers 25 Sodexo members who work as cleaners at Sanofi Pasteur, a biopharmaceutical company that manufactures vaccines.

Members at the Toronto facility voted 78% in favour to ratify the deal, which includes one additional sick day with pay, bringing the total to three, along with one additional paid work/life balance day. Wages will increase 1.75% per year for the duration of the contract, with a yearly signing bonus of $650 for full-time and $100 for part-time workers.

Negotiations also secured increased recall for members under 2 years of seniority, a health care benefit spending account for part-time workers, and an increase to the company’s portion of co-pay benefits from 60 to 65%.
