Gander, NL– Unifor is holding a Solidarity Rally for its locked-out Gander aerospace members. The Unifor Local 597 members were locked out by their employer, American-based D-J Composites, late on December 19, just days before Christmas.
“The employer has said it had no choice but to lock out our members,” said Lana Payne, Unifor Atlantic Regional Director. “The reality is, this employer had plenty of choices, including continuing to bargain. It chose instead to callously put our members on the street.”
Payne will be joined by Newfoundland and Labrador labour leaders at the Gander rally, including NL Federation of Labour President Mary Shortall.
