Bargaining begins with VIA Rail
Unifor Council 4000 and Local 100 have officially opened negotiations with VIA Rail, focusing on addressing key issues that impact more than 2,500 members across Canada.
Our bargaining teams are prioritizing the key issues of securing wage and benefit improvements, enhancing the hybrid pension plan, protecting work ownership amid threats of privatization, and addressing work-life balance. Additionally, Local 100 is focused on preventing contracting out, which remains a major concern.
Council 4000 represents members working in station services, headquarters, maintenance centres, and onboard trains. Local 100 represents Diesel Engine Mechanics, Electricians, Railcar Technicians, and General Workers.
Negotiations will continue in the coming weeks and we will keep you informed of any significant developments.
Remember, the employer’s updates may not always reflect the full picture, so rely on union channels for accurate information.

In solidarity,
