Autoport Eastern Passage workers prepare for potential strike action

Dear Members,

The bargaining team at Autoport Eastern Passage has been actively engaged in discussions with our employer since September 28, 2023. Our existing collective agreement concluded on December 31, 2023.

On January 16, 2024, the bargaining committee held a strike vote - and the response from members was overwhelming and demonstrated a strong sense of unity. An impressive 98.4% voted in favour of taking strike action if it becomes essential for securing a just and fair contract.

We are now prepared to strike, if necessary, if talks with the conciliation officer on January 23 are not successful.

In preparation for a potential strike, a strike committee has been established, supported by the National Union. We extend our gratitude to those who have volunteered as picket captains. For those awaiting assignments, you will receive instructions soon. Coordination efforts with our Local 100 Strike Coordinator are ongoing.

The bargaining team remains committed to constructive dialogue with the employer to avoid a strike and reach an amicable agreement. Our determination to secure a fair and respectable contract for our members is unwavering.

We urge our members to rely on these union communications for accurate information, dismissing any unfounded rumours. Rest assured, we will keep you informed and inform you on our progress.

In solidarity,

Your Autoport Bargaining Committee
