TORONTO, Oct. 3, 2014 /CNW/ - The premier of Ontario and a former advisor to U.S. President Barack Obama will be speaking Saturday at the Good Jobs Summit.
"We are very excited to have these two leaders at the Summit," Unifor National President Jerry Dias said. "This Summit is all about bringing people together to talk about how to create good jobs in our communities."
The Summit, which runs from 7 p.m. tonight to Sunday at noon, has attracted more than 1,000 students, workers, members of community organizations, government officials, business leaders, union representatives, researchers, policy makers and more.
Premier Kathleen Wynne will address the Summit on Saturday at 1 p.m. Van Jones, formerly an advisor to Obama and now a CNN commenter, gives the keynote address Saturday at 10:15 a.m.
Summit participants, meeting at the Mattamy Athletic Centre (the former Maple Leaf Gardens), will debate how to create quality job opportunities and how to address issues such as youth unemployment and the rapid increase in precarious work.

The Good Jobs Summit is being organized by Unifor, Ryerson University, the Canadian Federation of Students and the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives. Other speakers include GE Canada CEO Elyse Allan, former Toronto mayor David Miller and Jessica McCormick, national chairperson of the Canadian Federation of Students.
