Members of the Pepsi Beverage Company Employee Union voted to merge with Unifor on Saturday.

“Pepsi workers in Southern Alberta were looking to join forces with a powerful national union,” said Local President Valerie Walker. “We look forward to being a part of a new and innovative union that can support our goals in Alberta.”

Unifor will now represent the 165 workers at the Pepsi bottling plant in Calgary and the distribution centers in Medicine Hat and Lethbridge, joining the Unifor-represented Pepsi bottling groups in New Glasgow, Sydney, and Alex Coulombe (Pepsi) in Quebec. Unifor also has multiple Coca Cola units in Alberta and Ontario.

“We’re thrilled to welcome these members into our union. I look forward to working with the local leadership to advance their bargaining priorities,” said Don Boucher, Unifor’s Alberta Director.
