October 12, 2017 Windsor – Unifor will hold a media conference tomorrow to update media and the public on the strike against Medical Laboratories of Windsor. “It’s disappointing that patients continue to lack access to key medical tests because Medical Laboratories of Windsor refuses to come to a reasonable settlement with its employees,” said Tullio DiPonti, Local 2458 Secretary-Treasurer. Political representatives for the riding of Windsor West will also be in attendance to lend their support to striking workers on the picket line. WHAT: Media conference to update Medical Laboratories of Windsor strike WHERE: Medical Laboratory of Windsor, 1428 Ouellette Ave. Windsor WHEN: Friday October 13, 2017 10:00 a.m. WHO: Brian Masse, Member of Parliament, Windsor West Lisa Gretzky, Member of Provincial Parliament, Windsor West Tullio DiPonti, Unifor Local 2458 Secretary-Treasurer Ken Durocher, Unifor Local 2458 Second Vice-President Dina Roushanroz, Unifor Local 2458 Bargaining Committee Chair Approximately 90 Medical Lab Assistants and Medical Lab Technologists, represented by Unifor Local 2458, began strike action on October 2, 2017. The workers have been without a contract since March, 2017. “These members are trained in highly skilled, technical jobs yet they are unable to earn a decent living wage,” said DiPonti.
