ABBOTSFORD, BC, July 21, 2014 /CNW/ - After being denied a spot on the agenda for today's meeting, workers on strike at the city's largest private sector employer will rally at city council chambers today.
"We're defending the rights of the next generation of Cascade Aerospace workers, and we demand that Mayor Bruce Banman do the same," said Nate Shier, Plant Chairperson for Unifor Local 114. "City officials are proud to promote Cascade Aerospace when times are good, but they also need to stand up to defend good jobs when they're threatened."

Unifor Local 114 members at Cascade Aerospace have been on a legal strike since June 4. Unifor represents 440 aircraft maintenance engineers (AMEs), interior technicians, painters, stores, maintenance, planning clerks, sheet metal mechanics and other workers at the Abbotsford facility.
Unifor was founded Labour Day weekend 2013 when the Canadian Auto Workers and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers unions merged. With more than 305,000 members, Unifor is Canada's largest union in the private sector.
