Local 973 has ratified a new three-year contract with Coca-Cola in Brampton, Ont.

“The bargaining committee stayed focused on the members priority’s during these talks and were very pleased to bring back a tentative agreement that has increases across the board in wages, pension, health care improvements and many language improvements,” said Deb Tveit, Assistant to Unifor’s National President.

The three-year deal was ratified by members on Feb. 27 and 28, 2022 through Zoom meetings. The new agreement begins June 11, 2022 and expires June 13, 2025.

Highlights include increases to wages and benefits, pension and improved language changes to the AZ driver training program, Employee Family Assistance Program Representative and a minute of silence for the National Truth and Reconciliation Day on Sept. 30 each year.

"The bargaining committee worked hard to achieve gains in the pension a benefit plans, as well as increased wages on a three-year deal,” said Ryan Parson, Chairperson for Unifor Local 973. “Improvements to the overall collective agreement were made, providing for additional reduced work weeks and training that was ratified and approved by our membership.”

Unifor 973’s 750 members in this unit include workers in manufacturing and processing of Coca-Cola products, distribution to stores and restaurants and service to machines in restaurants that dispense Coke beverages.
