This year is an important and historic year for the LGBT members in our union. Not only is Toronto hosting World Pride, where thousands of people from all around the world will gather in the city, but it is the first opportunity that we have had to show off our new union at pride.

The Toronto area LGBT activists have been working hard to build a magnificent Unifor pride float that will reflect the theme of this years pride “rise up” and Unifor’s theme of “a union for everyone.”

At this year’s pride National President Jerry Dias will be walking alongside the LGBT activists and leadership. The parade starts at 1:00 pm sharp on Sunday, June 29, leaving from Rosedale Valley Road - just look for the Unifor flags and float (see map below). Unifor leaders, activists and staff will be assembling as of 12:15 pm.

Beginning after the parade there will be a social with food and drinks – everyone is welcome. The social is located at the Bond Place Hotel at 65 Dundas St. East, Toronto.
