This Thursday, February 3, Unifor is hosting a Day of Action for Child Care in Ontario. We are asking everyone across this province to participate.

Urgent action needed now

Ontario is the only jurisdiction in Canada that has not signed the federal child care deal promising $10-a-day child care, more child care spaces, and better pay for child care workers. If Premier Ford doesn’t sign before the end of March, we stand to lose out on $1.2 billion – yes, BILLION – in funding.

How to participate

There are three main ways to participate in the Day of Action for Child Care.

  1. Mass Call-In – TODAY call 1-844-877-1165. You will be greeted by instructions from Ontario Regional Director Naureen Rizvi and given a choice to be patched directly to one of five target MPP’s offices. Tell the MPP why affordable, accessible, quality child care is needed in Ontario and ask them to sign the federal child care deal now.
  2. #MyChildCareStory – Watch Women’s Director Tracey Ramsey’s social media video on Facebook and Instagram, and then record your own to share using the hashtag #MyChildCareStory. Did you struggle to find child care? Did you pay an absurd amount? Do you hope for affordable child care for other families? Tell us!
  3. Amplify our Reach! – Follow the Unifor accounts on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Share, like and comment on our posts to help us get seen. We are tagging MPPs in our posts and want them to get as many notifications as possible. You can also write your own messages to these MPPs by tagging their social accounts below:
