Today, FFAW-Unifor President Keith Sullivan had the opportunity to present to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and members of the Federal Cabinet during their meetings in St. John’s.
Mr. Sullivan’s comments focused on the vital importance of the inshore fishery to our coastal communities. While short-term challenges lay ahead, Mr. Sullivan highlighted the potential for vibrant, sustainable communities in Newfoundland and Labrador through opportunities in groundfish. He also stressed the importance of a strong policy and legal framework to ensure the benefits of the fishery come back to the people who fish and their adjacent communities.
“This was a significant opportunity for FFAW members to have their voices heard by our Prime Minister and his Ministers. We are pleased we had the chance to bring forth issues that are important to our members, and are hopeful Prime Minister Trudeau and his Cabinet will take our messages into consideration as they set their priorities for the coming months,” said FFAW-Unifor President Keith Sullivan.
