Employer's Final Offer

Share

Thank you to all Unifor Local 2215 members who were able to come out on short notice to our meeting last night. The turnout was fantastic and the results were overwhelmingly strong. Members were clearly not interested in the company’s final offer and voted 95.5% in favour of strike action.

Employer’s Final Offer

For those who were not able to attend, the bargaining committee provided all information to date. The meeting started by going through every piece of the company’s final offer, which included several reductions from our current collective agreement and very few increases. Their final offer demonstrates  the company is clearly out of touch with today’s working environment and has an obvious lack of respect for the workforce. We then covered all of the bargaining committee’s counter proposals along with the limited number of items that were agreed to at the bargaining table.

We were disappointed that the company did not take the conciliation process seriously and walked away from the table. The bargaining committee was optimistic that they would have taken our offer more seriously. The company did not even have the decency to speak to us and had the conciliator tell us talks were over.

We are hopeful the company will change their attitude and return to the bargaining table with an open mind and recognize that the safety of the workforce is paramount, and that forcing our members on jobs anywhere in the world is not a process we support.

Next Steps

Thank you all for your support. We anticipate the company will be trying to divide us, so let’s stick together. Please do your best to report any rumours to the Unifor 2215 bargaining committee. If you have not been provided the information from this website or directly from the committee, it should be treated as fake news.

For now, we intend to keep our negotiations confidential among the membership and we will not be speaking with the media. We can always go public at any time if the company chooses not to come back to the bargaining table and engage in real negotiations.

We will be asking everyone for their support in the coming days and weeks and hope we can count on the continued solidarity we all felt at last night’s meeting. Thanks again Local 2215! You rock!
