Members of Local 4005 at the Discovery Centre in Halifax have ratified a new collective agreement, with 92% voting in favour of the deal. The strong support reflects members’ satisfaction with the improvements achieved through bargaining.
“This strong ratification vote shows what’s possible when members stand united and push for fairness,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne. “This agreement delivers meaningful gains that recognize the important work members do every day at the Discovery Centre.”
The agreement includes wage increases in each year, a new Racial Justice Advocate position, increases to the night shift premium, improved meal allowances, and an increase to the Paid Education Leave (PEL) fund for the local.
“This agreement reflects the priorities members identified and the strength of the bargaining committee in securing real improvements,” said Atlantic Regional Director Jennifer Murray. “These gains will help build a more equitable workplace while improving working conditions for members.”
Unifor represents 13 members at the Discovery Centre working as staff scientists and front desk employees.
