VANCOUVER—Unifor members working for CLS Catering Services  have voted 98.4% in favour of strike action if necessary. Union members are taking action to protect their jobs and their collective gains.

Unifor Local 2002 hosted packed membership meetings on May 13, 2014. The bargaining committee had pledged to seek the membership’s direction after weeks of negotiations with the company had come to a stalemate.

The vote’s results show conclusively that CLS workers support the elected bargaining committee’s demands for a progressive collective agreement. Bargaining resumes on June 12–13, 2014.

Local 2002 represents 350 members of CLS Catering Services in Vancouver.

Unifor was founded Labour Day weekend 2013 when the Canadian Auto Workers and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers unions merged. With more than 300,000 members, Unifor is Canada’s largest union in the private sector.
